    Shipping an animal overseas can be expensive. Alongside vaccinations and mandatory quarantines, there is the cost of airfares and pet shipping crates, which can run easily into several thousand dollars. New Zealand, for example, doesn’t allow the importation of birds, reptiles or other animals, while many other countries have other restrictions on certain breeds of dogs.
