Glasgow, 27 April 2016 – Cigna (NYSE: CI), a global leader in serving expatriates and other globally mobile individuals, has appointed Steve Martin to lead business development in the UK for Cigna Global's Individual Private Medical Insurance (IPMI) business.

This newly created role will focus on growing Cigna's network of distribution partners in the UK, and strengthening existing partnerships to further accelerate the sales of individual private medical insurance. Steve will report to Tim Slee, Head of Global Broker Distribution.

“I’m delighted to welcome Steve to the team“, said Tim. “The IPMI market in the UK continues to grow, and I’m certain that with Steve’s wealth of experience in the industry and track record of achieving results, we can continue to build our presence in the UK at rapid pace.”

Tim adds: “Our European Business Development Manager, Nicolas Roubin, who has been doing a great job looking after our UK brokers from his base in Brussels will continue in his role focusing on Mainland Europe and some specific African countries.”

Steve brings over 17 years of experience in business development and medical insurance to Cigna. He joins Cigna Global IPMI following a long tenure with Bupa and Bupa Global, most recently as Senior Business Development Manager for Bupa UK.

Steve comments: “I am excited to be assuming this role, and getting back to international medical insurance. I look forward to getting to know our UK partners, forging many new connections, and working with the team to continue developing our proposition to make sure we are the first choice for brokers selling international medical insurance.”
