World Osteoporosis Day

October 20th 2016 recognized World Osteoporosis Day as an international day to raise global awareness about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease.

In 2016, the World Osteoporosis Day campaign called on health authorities and the public in general to be alert of the risk of osteoporosis; and take early action to protect their bone, muscle and joint health.

Osteoporosis causes bones to become fragile and break easily. Preventing the disease and contributing to a healthy, strong bone structure is very important to enjoy a good quality of life and independence at older age.
